How can we imagine our future ?

In the face of the climate emergency, the rise of conflicts, and the growing complexity of the contemporary world, a fundamental question emerges: what do we still believe in? And above all, what does today’s youth believe in—the generation that will have to build the world of tomorrow?

« Tu crois en quoi ? “Tu crois en quoi ?” was born from this question. Created between October 2023 and February 2025 within the Bordeaux Métropole area, the project offers an intimate immersion into the beliefs, values, and driving forces of a generation in the making: young people aged 6 to 30. Through a series of photographic portraits accompanied by audio interviews, the participants share their reflections on religious, political, cultural, or personal beliefs, their perception of the present, and above all their visions of the future. Shot in medium format, the photographs capture faces in locations chosen by the subjects themselves—university, mosque, sports field, cultural center, bustling street… Each setting becomes an extension of their voice.

The audiovisual montage blends expressions, silences, and the musicality of voices with the visual richness of the portraits. The result is a work that allows us to see and hear a diverse youth—clear-sighted, engaged, or questioning. This project offers a panorama of the contemporary beliefs of local youth while prompting a broader reflection on what drives us to act in a changing world. “What Do You Believe In?” invites each of us to reconsider our own values and to engage in dialogue with others.
